Cuppy Cakes with Sprinkles...

Making cupcakes with my grandchildren goes something like this. First you start out with the basics.

Then you need some helping hands

After Nana mixes all the ingedients, it’s time for those little hands. They give the batter an extra stir before filling the paper cups. And please, be rest assured, I would never let my grandkids eat raw eggs. No, it’s just not right.

No, letting them eat raw eggs would just be wrong

Now let’s spoon the batter into a paper-lined cupcake tin. Again, no batter with raw eggs for my grandchildren. We’ll have no Sam-n-Ella here. No sir-eeh!

Okay, now we’re ready to put these in the oven…All I have to say is “Thank goodness for self-cleaning ovens!”

Now to keep these two busy while the cupcakes bake…

First, let’s get the ‘Rock Star’ set up with Wii. This should keep him occupied!

Now, the Princess should be good for awhile feeding Pooh in the tent.

Wait, Pooh needs a nap. Let’s play with the dollhouse now.

No, we’re bored already. How about getting pretty?

Meanwhile, the Rock Star has given up on Wii and moved on to a puzzle.

A whole 22 minutes later, the cupcakes are done baking!

"We want to frost them." says the 'Rock Star'. "I want to put the sprinkles on top." pipes in the 'Princess'..."What? Now they have to cool?" they ask in unison.

Hmm? How about some crafts while we wait?

Finally they’re cool. No, they’re not still warm! No really I checked, they’re cool…well cool enough. It's time to frost the cupcakes!

Now I would never let my grandkids lick a knife. 'Safety first' is my motto.

Not only would I not let them lick a knife, who in their right mind would let them eat all that sugar?

Uh, oh. I’ve been so busy with all this, uhm baking, I have totally forgotten about making lunch. Let's see, what do we have? Hot dogs? No. Macaroni and cheese? No. Hmm, cupcakes? Affirmative.

Well, that was a nutritious meal!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot that the reason for making these was for their dad’s birthday. Happy Birthday to my favorite son-in-law, Happy Birthday to you.

Ha ha cupcakes for lunch :-) I love the pics of them licking the knives. A little baby slober in the icing just makes it easier to spread, right? ;-)

Oh yes, grandmas are just the cats meow. And you are my kind of grandma. Do you squirt whipping cream straight into the mouth also? I hope so. If they don't want their kids spoiled like that then don't ask me to baby sit. I need a grandkid fix and can't have mine for nearly two weeks. It will be a long two weeks.
