Ten Random Things About Me

1. I got married when I was 16 and had my son when I was 17. Believe it or not, I wasn’t pregnant when I got married, just stupid.

2. I left that asshole (oh, wait he wasn’t an asshole, he was the whole ass) after ten years of marriage without a pot to piss in; fortunately my parents welcomed me and let me use theirs.

3. I am about 98% Polish and contrary to popular belief, I can change a light bulb. Dumb Polack my ass…I just choose to pretend I can’t so My Better Half does it. How smart is that? Wha…what? You’re reading this, honey?

4. I have a fear of going over the edge…both physically and emotionally.

5. I do not know how to drive a stick shift (which works to my advantage when it comes to the riding lawn mower).

6. I am a phonaholic. Call me sometime and I’ll tell you all about it.

7. I was in honors classes in high school and on the Dean’s List in college…but didn’t graduate from either.

8. I can not stand to wear confining clothes. I prefer to wear short sleeves, even in the winter.

9. I have smoked for the majority of the last 30 years. As much as I want to quit, I feel like it’s my best friend. How do you tell your best friend to get lost?

10. I have been married to My Better Half for 13 years. You can read about our first date here.

My wife has played ignorant with a few things, too.

"But I don't know how to load this dishwasher. It's different than the one at our other apartment."

Yeah. I totally fell for it.

Going to the hypnotist today to tell my best friend to "get lost". I'll call you later and tell ya all about it - LOL.

Oh my! No wonder why I think you are such a YOUNG Gramma!

I cant stand tight fitting or restrictive clothes. If it was socially acceptable, Id wear pajamas and sweat pants everywhere.

I am really bad with the phone too.

One non-random thing about me:

Reading this sort of self-definition has inspired me to do a little "getting to know me" thing on my blog.

Actually I appreciate the openness here. I do feel like I know you better now. It's also good to know you have bad habits too. I feel less alone now.

I went to the "mad russian" in Boston to help me get rid of my best friend. So glad I did. And I love these random exercises. I learn so much about my friends;)

I've got another friend who has smoked for 20 years....she says that it's easier to stop feeling guilty about it and to just enjoy her simple pleasures. So yeah, she's not saying bye bye to her best friend either.

I play ignorant. Doesn't work. He knows about my physics degree, so I can't get away with anything! Dang it!

An update - the hypnotist was weird. I walked out of there and didn't smoke for a couple of hours. Then I had 1/2 a ciggy - it tasted bad. A couple hours later I had 1/2 a ciggy - it tasted bad. This morning I just had 1/2 a ciggy - it tasted bad. Maybe there is kinda something to this, but I still want my ciggys! Jim on the other hand, has not had a single one!!! I'm proud of him. The combination of Chantix (which I am NOT taking) and the hypnotist seemed to work pretty good for him. We'll see what today brings.

Oh man that was neat to get to know some things about you and where you came from. I love that about blogging and meeting new people. I think at some point in time I will do a posting on that as well.

The best friend thing.....if even a best friend is not healthy in your relationship, you have to cut them loose. So the same with smoking, cut it out of your life and find a new best friend. Good luck, I hear quiting smoking is one of the hardest thing in the world to do. I really do wish you luck if you choose to try and quit.

After 15 years with my best friend, I went all pirate on his ass and got a patch. Haven't seen my best friend in 7 years now. Good luck telling yours to piss off! If that's your goal, of course. :)

I can teach you how to drive a stick if you want. I'm a very patient teacher, unlike my dad.

How did you go to college without graduating high school first?

p.s. Love this post! And thanks for your Top3 Happiness List on mine!

I so fear going over the edge emotionally too. Let's hope we both end up staying on solid ground. I also hate the phone. I am very impressed by your lightbulb changing technique. I might have to try it sometime!

I'm phonaphobic. Actually, only partially so. I'll talk on them, but I'm terrified to be the one doing the dialing. Friends, family, work....doesn't matter. :-)
