Backyard Project Part Two

Continuing from yesterday’s post about our backyard project…I really didn’t expect much progress today. I had to work all day and even though Paul is in town this week, he had work to do from his home office. I knew he would be home to accept delivery of the flagstone and that he planned on making the necessary phone calls to get a dumpster, sod and dirt delivered; but imagine my surprise when I came home to progress…major progress. Not only was there a dumpster in the driveway, but it was filled.

The concrete slab that looked like this…

…now looks like this.

The backyard went from this…

…to this.

And one thing I didn’t mention yesterday was that in addition to this backyard project, we also had a big section of burnt out grass in the front. Look, new grass here too!

When the flagstone arrived, so did help. Here are my brother and Paul’s best friend starting to dig out where the new path will go.

When I asked them to pose for a picture, this is what I got! But that’s okay because they worked their asses off…well maybe not, because you can clearly see, well, uh, ass.

There was a lot of progress made today, but there is still quite a bit more work to be done. The flagstone path will take some time as the stones range anywhere from 2” to 4” thick. To properly lay each one, so the path is level, will take some time. The timbers for the additional garden area need to be dug in and placed so that they are level. The fence then needs to be built, along with a gate and trellis. (We won’t get into actually planting of the garden now.)

So apparently I must end this post with:

To be continued…

Um, when they're finished? Could they come down here? I'm picturing a cobblestone driveway...

They are doing a really good job. Love the butt crack. It wouldn't seem right without it. LOL.

God, we're in the middle of outdoor upgrades as well. It's all fine and good except for it's a million degrees here.

Love the ass shot. Nothing says hard work like plumbers crack.
