Zucchinni Martini Recipe Anyone?...

So as I mentioned not that long ago, my garden is barfing zucchini. Apparently the three plants we have are on steroids or PGH, better know as Plant Growth Hormones. The neighbors, it appears, have unveiled this information to the public and now I’m getting emails from Barry Bonds and A-Rod for a hook up. The Incredible Hulk, however, left me a message that the whole PGH thing is a fraud. Though the progeny of my plants are in fact green, he swears by gamma rays and thus refuses an interview. That being said here is a pictorial for your viewing pleasure.

My granddaughter playing in the garden near a wee zucchini plant.

Here she is again trying to get past the plants a mere two weeks later.

And then only two weeks after that the plants looked like this.

Sure, they started sprouting these really pretty yellow flowers…

But the flowers turned into these…and it seems like there is no end in sight.

Please note that the above picture was taken on Sunday…a whole day before I gave away five of the colossal zucchroids the day before. What the frick-frack was I supposed to do with the rest of them?

Let me tell you how it played out. First, I coerced my husband (read: I will have sex with you if you do what I say) into making fried zucchini.

Second, I asked him to cook shish-ka-bobs on the grill which included large swollen squash as part of the mixture (read: twice in one night).

For those of you that are thinking I take advantage of my husband, you are correct. And it totally sucks for him that he bears the brunt of his predecessor, but I will say in my defense that I love him with all my heart…and guts.

And to prove to you that I am not in fact the lazy bitch that I appear to be I did bake eight (hello, EIGHT) loaves of zucchini bread that day.

Somehow I only have two loaves left in my freezer as I gave the rest away. See? I do have a heart…and guts.

On an aside I do need to give a big shout out and thank you to Lou, for telling me to reboot my computer when I frantically called him at 9:00 p.m. as I was freaking out that Blogger wasn’t playing nice. (Hey, I’ve already admitted that I’m techno-challenged and blogtarded) But it is really nice to know I have blogging/IRL friend I can count on in a crunch. I truly heart you, Lou. Truly, I do.

You are a busy zucchini-bee! Those loaves are impressive. Imagine what they could do for A-Rod!

Oh God. This reminds me of my childhood. We had insanely large zucchini plants too and zucchini was on mom's menu almost every night.

Wow.

That's a lot of frickin' zucchini.

My aunt had that problem with cucumbers this year.

We had that problem with none of our plants because, despite the numerous attempts, nothing but weeds will grow in our yard.

OK, that whole first paragraph? Made me snort liquid out of my nose. You? All kinds of awesome. :) And if I lived anywhere near you I'd totally filch a loaf of zucchini bread.

Oooooh, I used to make fried zuc all the time when I was a kid. I might just have to do that tomorrow...

Well, look at it this way, at least your plants grew. Ours rotted from all the rain. You could always donate them to local restaurants in exchange for a beer or two.

OK, I have to admit it, I tried zucchini once a long time ago. Didn't like it. Never tried it again.

That bread, om the other hand, I'D TRY!!! :-)
