Yet Another Update...

After receiving the rent and deposit amounts the other night, both Paul and I constructed our own emails in reply.  It was late, about 11:00 p.m., and thought it would be better to sleep on it before sending a response.  The next day instead of sending either one, or even combining them into one cohesive email, Paul decided not to counter at all.  The owner’s terms were ridiculous in our eyes; from what he claimed he paid for the unit to his estimate for the upgrades we were asking for. 

Apparently the owner had slept on it too, and when he didn’t get a reply from us he revisited his proposal.  He came down over 20% to 85,000 Rupees, which is what he was charging the last tenant.  He also agreed to improvements not to exceed 1.5 Lakh and a security deposit of six months rent.  Now for those of you opening another tab to do the conversion, it amounts to $1,920.00 USD for rent and $3,400.00 USD in upgrades.

We’re not exactly home free yet.  Paul and the accountant at his office still need to review the lease.  I hope everything works out; I am really tired of living out of an hotel room…or should I say in one.  We’ve discussed moving to another hotel that is closer to the mall (yes, there is a real mall here), but it is currently at capacity.  It would be nice to be able to walk to the mall, or anywhere for that matter, and start picking up the bedding, towels and other items we’re going to need.  Another plus would be a choice of restaurants and not being stuck with one…and one that serves mystery soup.

On another note, I’m thinking about purchasing Rosetta Stone for Hindi when I’m back in the states in about a month.  I’ve read some good reviews and have been chatting with someone on FaceBook that got it for Hindi and says it’s working for her.  I’m just wondering if anyone else has tried it and what their opinion is.

That’s it for now, it’s time for lunch.  I’m thinking about skipping the soup and experimenting with pasta today.
