Things To Do, Places To Go, People To See…

I’ll be on a plane heading for the states early on the 19th; as in 3:00 a.m. early.  I have things to take care of before I leave and jet lag to deal with once I get there, so my next few posts will be a bunch of randomness.  Ready?

When the owner of this flat was showing me around she pointed out that there was a blender/mixer I could use.
Uh thanks, but no.  That would entail cleaning it first and just… no.  But thank you.  Instead we bought our own…
…then improved the ice situation…
…and tried to make Pina Coladas.
Except coconut cream is not cream of coconut, it is coconut milk.  Let me just say is was a waste of good Bacardi.

Speaking of milk, it is sold here in cartons like this one.  You won’t find it in the refrigerated section, but down one of the aisles…near the non refrigerated eggs…of which some still have chicken poop on them.
Speaking of bird poop, I’ve cleaned the damn terrace four days in a row now.  Ah, but it’s worth it to enjoy the view in the evening.  I look down and see children at the playground and others playing soccer or cricket and yet more taking swimming lessons.  Beyond that are the birds in the estuary, then the ships in Mumbai Harbour, and last, but not least, the glow of the sun as it disappears into the horizon.

Heads up:  I have a Give-Away coming up!

Non-refrigerated milk? And eggs with chicken poop on them? Where is the FDA when you need them?

Well they are regulated, but just a little differently. It took me a bit to realize that the date on things is the packaging date, and not the expiration date. Most products have labels that say ‘best used by X amount of days from package date”.

I think the milk is packaged like evaporated milk is in the U.S., and as far as the eggs? If you think back about a hundred years or so, eggs were brought from the farm into a town or city where they were sold without being refrigerated; so as long as they’re fresh, you’re okay. I think we’ve become a country of too many law suits where everyone has the mindset of CYA (cover your ass) and the asses of idiots with no common sense.

@ LindaSue
I don’t really know but I’m hoping it’s toning my flabby ass, and thighs, and arms, and…

I don't think the eggs part is a big deal, but the milk thing might bother me. Which is weird...cause really weird because fecal matter on part of your food should be worse to me than anything.
