The prize:
One Package of Mouth Freshener:
After a meal in India (and most Indian restaurants here), you’ll find a small bowl of this put on your table. Used to both freshen your breath and settle your tummy, you scoop a small amount onto your hand and pop them in your mouth. There are a several types of these on the market; some have just fennel seeds, and others have a variety of seeds. They can be coated with a layer of sugar or plain. I have also seen the plain ones served along side a bowl of sugar crystals
One Indian Side Dish:
Either Navaratan Korma, which is mixed vegetable and paneer (cheese) in sauce; or Aloo Mutter; Aloo (potatoes) with tomatoes and peas in a sauce. Just warm in the microwave or on the stove top and enjoy.
One Bag of Aloo Bhujia;
A spicy mint flavored snack made from potatoes. I actually haven’t tried these yet, so let me know how they are.
A Package of Tea, A Decorative Garland and Incense:
Nothing special; just plain tea….but from India!
Marigolds are widely used in India for religious decorations and offerings. I’ve often seen garlands like these used in lieu of fresh flowers.
India has a rich tradition of incense making that goes back thousands of years, and here’s a sample.
A One, Two and Five Rupee Coin with a Ten Rupee Bill:
A whopping forty cents USD.
