Quick Get Away…

I escaped with one of my BFF’s to Galena, Illinois for a couple of days.

An adorable house is the country.
With a big, comfy bed.
A view out my window…
…with deer walking by mere feet away.
A winter wonderland here...
…and in town.

Maybe we’ll get snowed in and have to stay a bit longer.

I went to college in Dubuque and went to Galena a lot - I love that town. Did you shop at Poopsies? My favorite store there :)

We stayed in Galena's DeSoto Hotel, once. The beds are from the 1800's - or were, anyway.

Lincoln spoke from the balcony of the hotel while running against Stephen Douglas.

Sometime in the late 1800's they took off the top floor of the hotel. Now there are staircases to the ceiling that don't go anywhere.

A big comfy bed! You know I much prefer the hard rock that we have in our flat.

I guess you not back home yet so no use calling.

Love ya and miss you!

@ Blondfabulous
In town I felt like I was walking through a Christmas card.

@ Bean
Poopsies is no longer there. I was hoping to find some more offbeat Holiday cards.

@Lceel
If the beds were from the 1800’s, I hope the mattresses weren’t. Grant’s home is there too. Oh, and the staircases? They lead to heaven…or so Led Zeppelin says.

I like all the town photos! A popcorn shop, how cute! Don't like the snow so much though...
