Girls' Weekend Update

Here’s a recap of Girls’ Weekend. I can’t divulge a great deal of information as our motto is, “What happens on Girls’ Weekend, stays with Girls’ Weekend.”

I picked up my daughter and my sister-in-law and got on the road as scheduled. There was no traffic…for about 10 minutes; then we got onto I290 heading west and everything stopped. We only had a 15 mile stretch on this highway but it took an hour and forty five minutes. Unbeknownst to me, my traveling companions were drinking Mike’s Hard Lemonade. It became apparent when they both had to pee…in gridlock traffic…with no exit in sight. Have you ever seen a girl pee into a plastic Solo cup in the back seat of an SUV? Me neither as it was behind my seat. I did, however, see the picture my SIL took with her phone. It has since been deleted, you know, the whole motto thing.

After an almost Five. Hour. Drive. we were greeted with dinner ready on the table. Fondue with beef and fresh vegetables, and a side of grilled asparagus, yummy.

This is where we stayed. Just a shack, but it’d have to do.

Here’s a view off the back deck. The sun only peeked out for a total of 3.45 seconds the entire weekend, so I grabbed my camera.

Looking at the living room you’ll note the gigantic elk’s head above the fireplace. There is a plethora of taxidermy going on in this house. Heads, fish, birds and antlers abound.

This is my daughter kissing my BFF’s first, um, kill.

Pictured here is our little group. From left to right you have: SIL, Fraughter, BP and BFF; and there’s me, behind the camera. Please note the 80’s side ponytails they’re all sporting. Dorks.

Here they are getting they’re groove on. Um yeah, you go girls.

Now, BFF is either not familiar with those small plastic cups they sell at party stores or she thought it would be more of a bonding thing to all eat out of the same pan; because this is her version of jello shots. She also has no concept of how to follow a recipe as she apparently tripled the amount of vodka called for.

My friend also thought it necessary to have something in the house other than alcohol to drink. There was some concern as to her choice of colas.

She assured us that it was quite tasty.

My daughter decided to show off her talents. Here she is making it look like someone is pinching her nose. I’m so proud of her.

Now she’s doing her sexy/smart look. Again, I am just filled with pride as her mother.

BP was the first one to throw in the towel. Quitter!

Eventually we all called it a night. Saturday morning was homemade biscuits and gravy for breakfast and then we headed out to tour a mansion built in 1875. Upon returning to the ‘shack’ we snacked on crab legs, spicy chipotle chicken wings, zesty orzo salad and a veggie tray. Two of us took naps; I won’t say who the light weights were. Then we started the party all over again with more libations and jambalaya for dinner; and ‘jello’ for desert.

It was a great time; plenty of good food and drink, hearty laughs and great friends. For the rest, you’ll have to guess. Until next Girls’ Weekend…

Put a group of women in a shack with alcohol, and a good time will ensue! Can I please come on the next weekend?

It's good times like these that make life worth living. I like to "triple the amount of vodka" as well - I likes your style!

And the action photos were great. Probably better that you deleted and didn't post the peeing shots. Funny that you took them, though.

Man, that shack would do for me in a pinch. I have seriously always wanted a log home with all the "cabin" feel. We were going to build one then backed out. I am glad you all arrived home safe and sound. Sorry, but that is the cop in me.

I used to wear a side ponytail all the time. Oh, this took me back. Your daughter is incredibly talented with that nose thing. LOL. Looks like you had a brilliant time!
