Truth and Consequence...

I wasn’t going to post today because my stomach hurt too much; not from my IBS acting up, but from all the laughing I’ve done these last few days. I had to block any further comments on last Friday’s post because of something that was said in my review:

“I think that the internet has replaced the girlfriend phone circle…Readers get involved in inane blog fights and pass whole weeks away, madly typing nonsense into cyberspace.”

Well, yeah, I agree and enough is enough. Plus, if anyone is going to get my panties in a bunch it will be My Better Half and they’ll be on the floor in the bedroom.

I do want to state that I did reread my review and gave some thought to what little was specifically aimed toward my blog and not the Mommy Bloggers in general. The two bits of advice my reviewer had for me were:

First, I need to do something with my template. I wholeheartedly agree. It is generic and not pleasing to the eye. I used what Blogger had and I’m planning on changing it once I have an idea of what I want and when I figure out how to do it. I confess I am technologically challenged and lazy.

Second, she said I have nothing entertaining. I am also taking this bit of advice to heart. Though I try to be amusing it may not always turn out that way. I am not an aspiring writer, or a comedienne or someone with a thorough knowledge on any one subject. What I write is light hearted fluff if you will. But that’s me and I can’t be anyone else. I guess I need to get the notion out of my head that I need to post Monday through Friday. When you try to force a post out it doesn’t always work; so I won't do it anymore.

Another bit of constructive criticism I got was in the comment section of my blog. “Anyone can buy a Would You Rather book.” This is true and though I giggled at the prospect of having readers squirm at their keyboards deciding which was the lesser of two evils, it is not original.

I’m not sure when I'll post again. When I do it will be in line with what I've done in the past. It may not be the best style, but it’s mine.

Just keeping being you. That's why I come back to read more. Don't change anything but your template (and then only if you want to)

When you start blogging based on what others want you to write, it's no longer YOUR blog.

And I think you're entertaining.

God only knows what a reviewer would say about my Wiener World!

Did you see my latest post? I have found the BEST site for making headings yourself...trust me, if I can do it, anyone can!

P.S. I like the would you rather questions...

You have a group of followers because they enjoy what you write and what you have written about. Why change it just because one or two complete strangers said so?

Also, if you'd like some help with customizing your blog, I can give you some pointers. Shoot me an e-mail about it.

There's a book? Well, I thought it was quite original, and I looked forward to the "would you rathers".

Who cares what some people think. You just be you. Can you imagine what some think about my insanity?
I actually got called "white trash" last week on somebody else's blog comments. She didn't have the guts to write it on my blog, of course, but I found it highly amusing.

Oh, and I'm going to try and fix the contest for you with Badass. I'm all set with my new look, so I'll try to hook you up with the big guy! Shhhh.

I think you're great and very entertaining! Keep doing what you're doing, that's why we all keep coming back.

Yeah I like the would you rather's too, and the other stuff you do on a regular basis. You know, I don't read EVERY blog out there, so if there's a million blogs exactly like this one - well I only read this one. If you are trying to make a living by blogging, maybe you should take their advice, but if you're just trying to enjoy yourself and make some friends, well, you're doing it just right.

Yeah. I tried to leave a comment on Fridays post (on Sunday) but comments were closed.

Um, yeah, you can change up your template if you'd like. I keep mine simple. I like that it doesn't take FOREVER for the page to load. Some blogs have too many bells and whistles, and I'm just interested in the words.

As far as that review saying "you have nothing entertaining."

I *fully* disagree. I come here every day because I have something INTERESTING to read. I have been very entertained by several of your posts.

I agree 100% with the WWOW

"When you start blogging based on what others want you to write, it's no longer YOUR blog."

AMEN. Write for yourself.

Heck, at least you have somewhat of a 'theme' with your Wednesdays "Would You Rather" and every Friday's with your KICK ASS drink and/or food recipes.

I have NO theme, no direction, and often complain. I would HATE to hear a review about my blog!

I think I am a little out of the loop. I admit I have been really busy and have not been able to read much this past week, but why is someone reviewing your blog? Did you ask them to do that? Your blog is yours and if someone does not want to read it then they can choose to go on else where. So I guess I don't understand what the big deal is. I will have to go back and read what is going on here. Sorry, hope you just put all that out of your head.

Keep doing yo' thang, Linda. Remember, the name of that blog was "will rip you a new one", or something to that effect.

My 2 cents is that you're funny, entertaining and not at all a "mommy blogger". And those pictures were a high point. More of those, please!

Wow, I just scrolled through those 48 comments that you closed. Goodness gracious! Keep doing what works for you...you have some readers...they like your stuff....they comment....it's all good. Right? Right!

I agree with everyone. I read your blog because I enjoy it, you make me laugh and because you are someone I can relate to. I feel bad that you were subjected to that review and I hope it doesn't stop you from blogging because that would be a shame. Just be you, Linda. That's who we love!

Just wanted to say that 'Would you rather' is a CONSTANT question game played around here. I'd offer you some material for future WYR posts ... but I doubt you'd want to hear some of the 'would you rather ..." that my 8yr old comes out with LOL.

Oh man, I wondered where you came from. I am also an alumni of the nasty review board, not with the BSG blog, but with a former one of mine. For a moment my heart skipped a beat or two thinking you'd found my new blog there. Anyway, I know Hallie (and Mr. Sock Monkey, woot!) and I agree with what she wrote completely!!! Thanks for stopping by my blog, too! :-) Oh.. Kim! I know Kim too! (found Kim through that site, actually!)

Hey, darlin', write whatever you want to write. There are days when I have no clue how I managed to get the good review from them that I did get. Are they reading the same blog I'm writing?

And as far as your template? I like it! Tweak the colors if you want and make sure the sidebar isn't cluttered and you're good. :)

Hang in there, darlin'!
