Oh Really...

Yesterday evening was spent watching “realty” shows. Uhm, yeah. My son’s girlfriend was over and feeling a bit under the weather. We felt sorry for her and made some tea and gave her control of the remote. She admits she is addicted to realty shows and if they stopped airing them she would probably go through withdrawals. She laughed as she said, “I’d be like, Quick I need a confessional booth, or Grab the video camera, stat!”

One of the shows we watched was Rock of Love Charm School, a spinoff of ‘Rock of Love’ with Bret Michaels and ‘Flavor of Love Girls Charm School’. Sharon Osbourne tries to transform some of Bret's rejects. Girls with names like Lacey, Dallas, Destiny, Brandi C. and Brandi M. compete against each other to win $100,000.00. Now let’s talk realty. Not for one minute do I believe that these are actually their real names.

After that circus we caught a bit of Real Chance of Love, a spinoff from “I Love New York”. I couldn’t watch the whole episode, but at least it’s apparent that the girls have knick names, not stage names.

From there we moved on to Rockband Battle on MTV. There is now a reality game show where ‘groups’ of four compete playing a video game. One of the groups’ was called ‘Jerk Rag’…or was that ‘Spooge Towel’? I forget, but does it really matter? Anyhoo, the host announced that these groups were “…competing for awesome prizes, but better yet, Rockband glory.” Ah yes, the glory! I laughed my ass off when one of the contestants said, “At the end of the day, does it really matter if we’re playing a real instrument or not?” Why yes, I think it does.

I admit that I watch Big Brother and peek in on a few others as I’m flipping through the channels. But I just can not believe how many of these shows are out there. These are just the ones I can think of:

American Idol
America’s Next Top Model
Average Joe
Big Brother
Dancing With the Stars
Extreme Home Makeover
Extreme Makeover
Fear Factor
Hell’s Kitchen
I Love New York
John and Kate Plus Eight
Last Comic Standing
My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance
Project Greenlight
Project Runway
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
Rock of Love
Rock of Love Charm School
Rockband Battle
Survivor
The Amazing Race
The Apprentice
The Bachelor
The Bachelorette
The Biggest Loser
The Osbournes
The Real World
The Simple Life
Trading Spaces
What Not to Wear
While You Were Out
Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire
Wife Swap

Which ones did I miss?

Oh, if you haven’t seen ‘Total Drama Island’, check it out. It’s on The Cartoon Network. Color me naïve, but The Cartoon Network?

I have really been into "17 Kids and Counting" lately! I think you missed that one! :)

They really are crazy.... and none of them are true, complete "reality." Reality is too boring to be made into a TV show all on its own!!

Ugh. I strongly dislike reality TV. I have enough drama in my real life, I don't need to watch it for entertainment.

My favourite at the moment is Top Chef. I also love Project Runway. Reality TV does become addictive. I will admit that I occasionally watch The Hills. I think I need help!

Um yeah, we canned Total Drama Island in my house after the 11-year-old was watching it one day when the girl was shouting "He saw my boobies!" Not allowed anymore!!

I absolutely love Sharon Osbourne. She is total comedy.

I also love American Idol, Top Chef, and Project Runway!

You missed The Pickup Artist, on VH1. That's my favorite, I'm embarrassed to admit.

My God is that "reality" format overdone. But it's obviously still working on all ofus.

Supernanny? Did you forget Jojo?
I have to admit that I watch Dancing With The Stars, Wife Swap sometimes, Extreme Home Makeover and Supernanny.

Other than that, can't stand "reality" shows. If it involves whiney women, you can't pay me enough to sit through it!

Some Reality shows are like a train wreck, you can't help but watch them, even though you KNOW you should turn away.
My favorite part of the clip is how the duck turns its head during the bleeping!

I'll have to check out the Cartoon Network show. I've seen it listed on there but never watched it.

I might like to try th Rockband one. I never learned an instrument but think I could pretend :)

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!

I like "Little People, Big World" and now, thanks to my 9yo, I watch "Total Drama Island". Heck, I tend to sing the song "I wanna be famous!"
