Valentine Recap...

I had two dates on Valentine’s Day…and one of them wasn’t with my husband!

My first date included meeting up with Lou of lceel, again. He came to my house and chatted for a bit with my husband and me before we headed north to Evanston, Illinois, where we met up with Cat of Wait. What? for lunch. Cat had chosen a great B-B-Q restaurant called Merle’s. There were big comfy leather booths, a nice atmosphere, good eats and great company; what else could you ask for? I, of course, had a great time. I had seen Cat’s comments on Lou’s blog for awhile, but I hadn’t read any of her posts until Lou invited me to this meet-up. I will now be an avid reader of her. Not just because I met her in person and liked her right off the bat. Not just because she is intelligent and warm and open. Not just because she can write. Well, actually it is because of those three things. She’s a trifecta!

Here are a couple of pictures from our lunch.

This is Cat.

And here is Lou.

This is a pic the waitress took of all three of us.

Now I’ve only got two notches on my belt for how many bloggers I’ve met in person, as opposed to Lou’s eight (All women…”Lou, you da lady’s man!”); but I’m hoping to meet more at BlogHer. Anyone else planning on attending the BlogHer Conference in July? If so, please let me know.

After a great first date on Valentine’s Day, I got home late afternoon to my second date. My husband had a tablecloth laid out with flowers and a card on the table. Champagne was chilling on ice and dinner was in the making; potatoes baking in the oven, chicken breasts wrapped around ham, cheese and asparagus with a white wine sauce on the stove and cheesecake in the refrigerator. Yum! Yeah, my husband? He’s a keeper. Not only was he okay with me spending the afternoon with ‘another man’, he planned a lovely evening for us. And Lou and Cat? They’re keepers too. It is truly wonderful, as bloggers, the friends we can and do make on-line. It is even more wonderful when we can meet them and get to know them in person. I truly look forward to someday meeting more of you in the future.

They look and sound like really cool people. I need to get meeting some bloggers. I have met about ten so far but they were all people I knew beforehand, so I guess that doesn't count.

What a delicious dinner you had!!

If were near your area I would definitely try to look you up. So far, the closest I've come to meeting anyone is exchanging emails and, in one case, hearing her voice on a parody song she sang and posted.

All this intimate communication without meeting is a little odd, when you sit back and think about it...

I'm starting to consider BlogHer, now that I'm seeing more of my blog friends are going. It could be a lot of fun.

Hi!

Wow, I was just in the Chicagoland area this last weekend for an event in Hyde Park. Wonder if we crossed paths in the airport.

Best wishes,
