The Incredible...

…(and crazy if you ask me) construction of scaffolding in India.

First you start with a pile of bamboo.
Then you tie them together.
…with a cross between twine and rope, but more like twine.
You work your way up the building…
…until you reach the window outside my room on the fifth floor.  Then you try to pay attention to what you are doing while I take pictures.
You work quickly so as to get past the crazy white woman with the camera…
…making sure to keep your balance, as there is no net below to catch you if you fall…
…all the while pounding those poles tightly into the corners of the building because no nails are used.
What?  No nails?  You don’t need no stinkin’ nails!  Just bamboo and twine and some big b@!!$.

Not me!! Not by a long shot!

twine? F%@#ing TWINE??????

I SPIT on twine. Safety harness. Big frigging motor on top of the building with steel cable that attaches to my safety harness.

For the FIRST floor.

After that, they can get me a helicopter.

You can say that again. And again and again and again.

@ Lceel
Twine…how ‘bout it? I think they’d be better off with duct tape.

Whoa...this made my heart skip a beat just thinking about it!!! How very different from the protocol and regulations we have in the states - we can't do anything that involves twigs and twine!

I wouldn't be able to look when they were climbing up that. That is just too reckless. Yikes!

and in bare feet too. OSHA may overdo it in our country but by golly it's a lot better than bamboo and twine. Yikes!
