Dizzy…

I woke up Thanksgiving morning and could barely get out of bed.  The room was spinning and my ears were ringing.  I felt nauseous and grabbed onto the wall as I made my way to the bathroom.  After struggling to get the turkey stuffed and into the oven I hit the sofa.  Thank goodness I had Fraughter to help with the rest of the meal.

Sounds like I celebrated on Black Wednesday a little too much, doesn’t it?  But the truth is I didn’t.  I didn’t even leave the house.  What I had, and continue to have, is vertigo.

For anyone that doesn’t know what vertigo feels like, let me try to describe it.  Imagine walking through one of those revolving tunnels at a fun house…for hours.  You’re unsteady on your feet and it can seem like everything around you is spinning.  Without the help of a wall or piece of furniture to hold you steady it’s easy to fall.  At times, while sitting perfectly still, your head will just drop to one side.  And if that’s not enough, add in nausea and vomiting.

That’s what I’ve been dealing with for almost a week; that and a stuffed up feeling in my right ear along with tinnitus.  At times I can almost block out the ringing and at others it’s like the Cicadas are in season.

I was able to get into the ear doctor yesterday.  This is the same doctor I saw four years ago for the same problem.  Back then he thought that it could be Meniere’s Disease, but my symptoms went away after a month or so and I didn’t go back to him…until now.  Apparently I have a noticeable loss of hearing in my right ear since being tested four years ago and I’m scheduled for a VNG test on Thursday.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get a diagnoses and treatment quickly because this is really messing up my visit home.

Do you need me to make an emergency McDonald's run?

Meanwhile .. I'm sorry to hear this. Is there anything I can do? Just call me - if you need me.

Oh, hon! I do hope you get a diagnosis while you're here in the states. I would hate for you to have to deal with this in India.

Yikes! My first thought was inner ear infection. Hopefully that's all it is - and hope you feel much better very quickly so you can enjoy your visit and your new granddaughter!
