Did you ever reach in the pocket of a jacket you haven’t worn in a while and find a ten dollar bill? Well, that kind of happened to me last week…only better. I found $500.00. Apparently I put it aside before our vacation and forgot about it. I know, I know, the memory is the first to go.
It was by accident that I even found it. I had put it under a knick knack (paddy whack, give a dog a … never mind) in the desk in my bedroom. I probably wouldn’t have even come across it if my husband hadn’t bought me a little trinket on vacation; a polished heart shaped stone (he came up to me in a gift shop with it and told me he was giving me his heart. I told him it didn’t count unless he paid for it, so he did). Anyhoo, I decided to put it in the desk and that’s when I came across the stash (cash stash, that is).
I spent some time thinking about what I could do with this ‘found’ money. Perhaps a shopping spree; new clothes, shoes and purses? New lingerie; cute matching bras and panties? Jewelry; new watch or earrings? A night on the town? A summer party? A weekend getaway? The possibilities were endless…
What did I do with the money, you’re wondering. Please have a seat and hold back your enthusiasm when I tell you that I……bought a box spring and mattress.
I had to. My sister is coming to visit for the Fourth of July weekend and the spare bedroom is empty. Not one stick of furniture. Of course, now that I’ve started the ball rolling, I have to finish it. I need a nightstand and dresser. New linens and pillows. A lamp. New blinds on the windows and paint on the walls.
What have I started? A few days ago I had five hundred dollars…Five Hundred Dollars! Now…I have…a headache.
