My Husband is Coming Home Tomorrow…

…if only for six weeks.

Though today is my 2 year anniversary for blogging and I would probably be all “Yeah me!”, I haven’t been the best at it lately, so I’d rather concentrate on one of the best things in my life…my husband. This post is for him.

“Paul, while it has been harder on you being in India than it has been on me without you home, I still have had my trials and tribulations:

Shoveling snow in the winter Finding someone to shovel the snow.

Cutting the grass in the spring/summer Finding someone to cut the grass.

Planting the garden, eh-hem, I mean your garden.

Trying to keep the rabbits out of the garden…having our dog, Levi, help me…finding someone to clean up the dead rabbits.

Buying and lifting numerous 40 lb. bags of salt for the water softener…and finding someone to actually pour them into said water softener.

Taking care of a hot tub; that I don’t even want to go into without you.

Opening the pool for the summer, having to buy new equipment for it and maintaining it.

Making the decision to end the life of one of our dogs.

Finding out we’re going to be grandparents again and only being able to share that joyous news over the phone…and then realizing that you may not be here when that grandbaby is born.

Cooking for one.

Realizing how much you do around the house and for me…and how lazy I’ve become.

Sleeping in our bed night after night after night, without you.

In the last six and a half months I have seen you a total of six weeks. Of those weeks you were only home for five of them. I’ve missed you and want you to enjoy this little staycation before you go back but…but I can’t help myself and have come up with this little ‘Honey Do’ list while you’re home:

You don’t have to shovel snow because it is summer, but feel free to shovel in the backyard with the pooper scooper.

The grass will be growing while you’re home, so feel free to cut it, and by the way, I’m told your tractor needs a new battery…and spark plugs…and an oil change.

Your garden is planted and doing just fine, except for the damned mother thumpers. I bought a roll of chicken coop wire and can you please keep Fort Knox in mind as you’re stapling it to the fence?

The hot tub is due to be drained, scrubbed and refilled. Won’t it be nice to enjoy it together…at a temperature of 103 degrees while it is in the upper 80’s to low 90’s outside?

The pool is up and running and the grandchildren have been enjoying it immensely; but remember when you told me that I had to take apart the filter (i.e. close this valve and that, then disconnect it from the hoses and remove umpteen bolts, both inside and out, and spray the inside with a high pressured hose)? Well I didn’t, thus another item on your ‘To Do’ list.

Levi is past due for a bath. You don’t have to actually give him one, just remember how hard it is to get him in the tub. Yeah, need a little assistance with that.

Because you’ve missed everyone so much, I’ve planned a huge party on July 3rd. BTW, I’ll need a little help the day before.

In case you don’t get enough of everyone at our party there are a gazillion graduation parties we’re invited to while you’re home…FYI.

I know you’ll be feeling the pangs of jet lag the first week you’re home, but suck it up and be the man of the house. You’re going to have to order those windows we talked about that need replacing. I don’t expect you to actually install all of them before you leave, just the one in our bedroom.

Speaking of being the man of the house…you sooo need to put Barney to shame!

I know I usually give you a heads up if I’m going to post something pertaining to you, let alone directed at you; but you’re either flying from Mumbai to Paris, or Paris to Chicago right now so no-can-do. I’ll see you in about fifteen hours and I can’t wait to be in your arms again.”

This makes me tear up because I know how damned much you love and miss him.

I'm glad he's in your arms now.

Well not *right* now because you're ass should be at work.

But whatever.

PS : We keep playing phone tag.

PPS : I see you don't have "clean the carpets" on his list. It's because I have your cleaner still. Don't worry Paul - I'll bring it over as soon as your wife ANSWERS HER DAMN PHONE.
